<H1>SASCA 1997 Finals Report</H1>
<P>The SASCA (Swedish Autosound Challenge Association) finals for 1997 were held, as is traditional, during the first weekend of November (Oct 31-Nov 2) at the Stockholm International Fairs convention center. 120 cars were invited to the Finals to compete for the 36 trophies in 12 classes.</P> <P>I shot two rolls of film at the event; here are some of these pictures showing some of the most interesting installs. The complete results from the Finals can be found on the <a href="http://www.sasca.se/" target="_blank" >SASCA home pages.</A></P> <P>These pictures are all size optimized JPEGs so that they will load quickly; however they should be reasonably legible.</P> <P> <TABLE width="100%" border=1> <TR> <TD> <DIV align=center><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/50s_bug3.jpg" align=top> </DIV></TD> <TD><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/50s_bug2.jpg" align=top></TD></TR></TABLE> <TABLE width="100%" border=1> <TR> <TD align=left><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/50s_bug1.jpg"></TD> <TD vAlign=top> <P>These pictures show a very nicely turned out 1955 VW Bug, using all Phoenix Gold equipment. The installation was done by HiFi-Klubben, the Swedish distributor of Phoenix Gold, Denon, Boston Acoustics, Cerwin-Vega and Soundstream.</P> <P>ZX amps, ZeroPoint front stage and Xmax subwoofers. Hmm, wonder how the driver's knees would look after an accident...</P></TD></TR></TABLE></P> <P>The series of pictures below shows a BMW M5 installed by hot rod builder Thomas Westman. The install work is simply astonishing, although it may seem a bit of an overkill in certain areas. Thomas placed 3rd in his class at the Finals, a pretty good reminder that you need musicality as well as an amazing install to win.</P> <P> <TABLE width="100%" border=1> <TR> <TD align=left><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/swippe0.jpg"></TD> <TD><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/swippe2.jpg"></TD></TR> <TR> <TD>McIntosh subwoofers with color matched baskets.</TD> <TD>Head unit face plate with McIntosh logo etched into it.</TD></TR></TABLE> <TABLE width="100%" border=1> <TR> <TD vAlign=top align=left><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/swippe3.jpg"></TD> <TD vAlign=top align=left> <P><IMG src="http://home.swipnet.se/~w-18435/images/caraudio/final97/swippes_trunk.jpg"></P> <P>Left: Custom made, NC machined fused power distribution blocks and bus bars for caps. Six 2NT 15" subs behind the rear seat, and kick (side?) panels with a 12" sub, one 8" midbass and two 5 1/4" component sets.
